The terms on which we sell to you. Please read them before placing an order.
Who we are
This website is operated by Anthology Book Shop: 08 Crown Walk, Off west street, Bourne, Lincolnshire PE10 9PB. You can reach us at anthologybookshop@gmail.com or on 07308 945 491. We are the data controller for the personal information described below.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to run the shop.
- When you place an order your name, billing and delivery address, email address, phone number, and what you bought. Card details are handled by SumUp and never reach our servers.
- When you create an account your name, email address and password, plus your saved addresses and order history.
- When you contact us or request a book your name, email address and whatever you tell us in the message.
- When you subscribe to our list your email address, and the fact that you consented.
- Automatically, as you browse your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visited. This comes from cookies and similar technologies.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To fulfil your order including payment, delivery and customer service. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- To keep accounting and tax records. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
- To send marketing emails, only if you asked us to. Lawful basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To prevent fraud and keep the site secure, and to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the businesses that help us run the shop, and only as far as they need it:
- SumUp, who process card payments. They handle your card details directly; we never see or store them.
- Royal Mail and our couriers, who need your name, address and phone number to deliver your order.
- Our email and website providers, who host the site and send your order confirmations.
- Our accountant, and HMRC, where the law requires it.
Cookies
The site uses cookies to keep your basket working, to remember you if you log in, and to understand how the site is used. Essential cookies cannot be switched off because the shop will not function without them. You can block or delete any other cookie through your browser settings.
How long we keep it
Order and payment records are kept for six years, which is what UK tax law requires. Account details are kept until you ask us to close your account. Marketing consent is kept until you unsubscribe. Enquiries are kept for two years so we can pick up a conversation where it left off.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of the information we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or send it to another provider. You can object to us using it for our legitimate interests, and you can withdraw marketing consent at any moment. Email us and we will respond within one month.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Security
The site runs over an encrypted connection, payments are handled entirely by SumUp, and access to customer data is limited to the people who need it to fulfil orders.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
